Want to know why this is part of the Wiki Fascism Project as the National Party was not a facist organisation--Scottykira (talk) 21:10, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Enriched plutonium"

[edit]

The section "Cultural references" mentions "enriched plutonium", which is nonsense. Could someone with access to the source check whether it says "plutonium" or "enriched uranium". If the origin does say "enriched plutonium", please insert "[sic]" and a reference. Agemegos (talk) 02:24, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

South African Bureau of State SecurityBureau of State SecurityWP:CommonName. The current article name appears to be a neologism Park3r (talk) 18:47, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:26, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Park3r: There are many bureaus of state security and similar across the world. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:27, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Support In terms of WP:COMMONNAME, it should be Bureau of State Security. If more than one such body existed with the exact same name, it would be called Bureau of State Security (South Africa), but since it's the only one with that exact name, I can't see why this is a problem. The redirect already points to this article, and this was a request to move the page over the existing redirect. If confusion does arise (with lowercase Bureau of state security), it can be solved with a hatnote, and a disambiguation page.Park3r (talk) 00:12, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi All, I believe its name should be 'Bureau for State Security 'not Bureau of State Security. Journalists used BOSS as it sounded better. But I thinkmost know it asthe Bureau of State Security. In favour of Bureau for State Security (South Africa) with a redirect for alternatives Thanks..Conlinp (talk) 06:12, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:COMMONNAME would indicate that Bureau of State Security is the better name. Maybe even B.O.S.S. As for the name Bureau for State Security (South Africa), that has a whiff of systemic bias (WP:GLOBAL). The Federal Bureau of Investigation is not called Federal Bureau of Investigation (United States). Why should Bureau of State Security need to be parenthesized with South Africa? Park3r (talk) 08:56, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Always referred to as the Bureau of State Security during its existence and no need for disambiguation. Even if there were others, it is by far the best-known. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:49, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship between Special Branch/Security Police and B.O.S.S.

[edit]

There probably needs to be some exposition on the relationship between BOSS and the Security Police. Park3r (talk) 04:59, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
